Decisions:

• February Article Club will take place on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 1:00PM
• Twitter Chat scheduled for Friday, March 6, 2020 has been cancelled
• Deadline for providing feedback on call for proposals for Instruction Showcase is Friday, February 14, 2020

Announcements:

• Marielle McNeal has taken a new job, outside of CARLI, and has left the committee; Dee Anna Phares will complete her term as co-chair
• CARLI Counts Cohort 2 begins February 18, 2020
• Christina Norton has accepted a new position at Bradley University, but will continue her work on the committee
• Open Education Week (March 2-6, 2020)—U of I Library will host an in-person and livestream event, "Beyond Free Textbooks: How OER Addresses Access, Inclusion, and Academic Excellence," on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 3:30-4:30PM

• February Article Club, 2/26/2020
  • Annie Armstrong, Christina Norton, and Dee Anna Phares will moderate 
  • There are 38 people registered 
  • “Guiding Questions” generated by the committee are now on the CARLI website and will be sent to registrants
  • The link to Stefanie Bluemle’s article will be added to the chat

  • Marielle McNeal’s departure prompted the committee to cancel the chat and instead to focus attention on the remaining events scheduled for the Spring
• Spring Webinar, 4/1/2020
  • Only one potential presenter (Rebecca Yowler) submitted a proposal before the deadline; the focus on Music may be too narrow in scope for this event
  • There are 7 people have registered to attend the event
  • The committee decided to shift the format from a panel to a presentation by one speaker; Amy will reach out to Dawn Stahura of Simmons College to discuss “ACT UP for Evaluating Sources”
  • Rebecca Yowler will be asked to participate in Instruction Showcase
• Instruction Showcase, Harper College, 5/29/2020
  • Save the date email sent on 1/8/2020
  • Committee asked to review the call for proposals by Friday, February 14, 2020, so it can be sent out ASAP
  • Jason Altmann, Director of ADS at Harper, will offer a 50 minute workshop focused on making handouts and instruction resources more accessible
  • Committee members will explore the possibility of having an afternoon session on teaching Primo VE to patrons; may invite a person from an institution that uses Primo VE
• Instruction/Public services joint sub-committees
  • Subcommittees continuing their work; will report more after next meeting
  • Iowa State University has created an OER information literacy textbook that emphasizes searching in Primo VE; Dee Anna will provide the link

Tasks assigned:

• Committee members will review call for proposals for Instruction Showcase before the end of the day on February 14
• Debbie will send out the call for proposals for Instruction Showcase to all CARLI members
• Annie, Christina, and Dee Anna will sort out moderation duties for February article club
• Amy will contact Dawn Stahura about presenting at Spring Webinar and will inform Stefanie Bluemle that she will not need to participate in a panel discussion
• Dee Anna will upload Iowa State University Library’s LIB 160: Information Literacy text to the Google Drive
