- CARLI calendar has many open educational resources programming.
- CARLI Public Services Committee is hosting a program on Gen AI on June 24 from 1-2pm.
Recap of April Meeting
- Check in on local meeting planning
- Working through CARLI instruction showcase.
- Maria Emmerson sent details of the keynote and the committee gave feedback.
- Showcase schedule was set and program descriptions added.
Local Meeting at Elgin Community College
- Conversations were great
- Good turnout from community colleges
- Great discussion groups, engaged discussions
- Stacy did a great job coordinating. Wonderful tour of the Library.
- Nice mix of people—long time librarians and new librarians.
- 16 attendees. Attendees were from Chicago area, Kankakee attendee furthest away from Chicago.
- Things to consider for next event:
- Better timekeeping.
- Small group – adjusted the agenda to fit.
Showcase Planning
- Email advertisement had 9am-3pm. Time is 9am-1pm. Denise will correct.
- CARLI members reviewed the Showcase Schedule and signed up for moderating on the agenda.
- Keynote will have two moderators. Single moderators for other programs unless extra people are available.
- Members discussed whether moderators needed scripts. These will be developed based on last year’s scripts.
- Q&A’s will be immediately after presentations (not combined at the end if multiple presentations). This will be communicated to the presenters.
- We will ask presenters to share slides after the Showcase.
- We need to check to see if presenters have sent their permission to be recorded. One presenter requested not to be recorded.
- One zoom link will be used for the entire showcase.
- CARLI will send out the same evaluation distributed as last year after the showcase.
- Regarding breaks, moderator should announce the break and turn off cameras for Zoom. Slide to put up during breaks.
- Make sure to register!
Action Items
- Alex is checking with members not in attendance to confirm moderating duties.
- Alex is working on the scripts for opening and closing with Abby. Other moderators will write their own scripts offline.
- Denise will check to see if presenters have sent their permission forms for recording.
- Denise will look for last year’s evaluation for reuse at this year’s showcase.
- Alex is making a slide to add to the main Showcase slide deck for breaks.
- Alex will send a reminder to all speakers and confirm that they have registered for the Zoom information. Alex will cc moderator so they can reach out if needed.
Additional Events for the Summer
- Committee opted not to hold any programs over the summer.
End of Year and Next Chair
- Alex asked if anyone was interested in chairing the group next year. Those interested should contact him.
- Call for membership was already sent out by CARLI for next terms.
- Committee puts together an end of year report.
Action Items
- Alex will work with Abby on the end of year report.
- Denise will send last year’s report as a model.
