Discovery Primo VE Committee: February 8, 2023

  • Next steps?
  • Dedup/FRBR
    • Andrew still planning to run a large de-dupe job on NZ Bibles. Since Alice is no longer on the committee, he has asked for additional volunteers.
  • Local fields
    • Jessica will release non-normalization fields soon while discussion about normalization fields continues. Matt will backup example records before Sandbox is wiped.
  • Local resource types
    • Jessica loaded resource types into the NZ, providing a larger sample size. Andrew is working on indiciation rules to identify likely cataloging problems that will prevent correct indexing.
    • Proposed adding “film reels” and “audio tape reels.” Will retain secondary or generic resource types for grouping, e.g. “Government Documents.” Should be ready for testing soon.
  • Usability best practices
    • Feedback from Usability 101 panel was generally positive. Next webinar planned for Monday, April 17 from 1pm-2:30. Agenda still being determined, but will likely involve providing an overview of the plan to implement changes  informed by usability testing

4. Primo February Release

  • CARLI reviews new releases in-house and will begin sharing new features during Office Hours, starting this week.
  • Agreed that there’s no need for the Committee to discuss release notes unless there is a new feature that will impact the entire consortium.
  • Nothing in the February release requires further discussion.

5. Ex Libris Idea Exchange

  • Some committee members began prioritizing Ideas in a document
  • Lindsey created a graphic for the “voter drive,” which is in the Google Drive
  • Lindsey proposed using the Primo Interest Group list to encourage members to vote, providing simple instructions and featuring Ideas with direct link.
  • Marlee suggested that we could also breakdown/explain Ideas, more clearly articulating the benefits to individual libraries and the consortium.
  • Jessica suggested that we could also encourage members to send good Ideas to the list or even create new Ideas.
  • Allan and Lindsey will touch base about creating graphics for the next meeting to send out to the Primo Interest Group list.

6. New Business
    Jessica introduced newest CARLI employee, Annie Serrano, who started in November and will be working with Jessica on Primo VE.
