Old business
Wiki Survey
- Most responses indicated people did not know about the wiki
- In order to avoid reinventing the wheel, the Wiki will be divided into two main sections (Ken)
- CARLI specific instruction – resources from CARLI librarians
- General instruction links – Links to PRIMO and other larger scale instructional resources (Chris)
- Promote the Unconference wiki page to encourage contributions
Unconference
- Facilitators can be instruction team members and/or other librarians
- We can decide based on topic listings and names on the wiki
- Maximum amount of people for a break out session is 12
- We need to know how many people are coming before we can decide on a set number of topics
- Registration will occur after Thanksgiving
- Chris is holding room space at Wesleyan, can decrease size of space after registration if necessary
- Merge the facilitator page with the topics page on the Wiki (Kristen)
- Discussion if Unconference should be open to all CARLI libraries and library graduate students - undecided
Spring Forum
- Lorna provided estimated costs for the I-Hotel, see Google Doc
- Other possible facilities included DePaul, UIC
- Approx. 100 people attending
- Tentative topic: Diversity
- Keynote followed by breakout afternoon sessions
- Concerns that this topic/speaker will not have a clear library instruction focus
- Possible title: “Library Services for a Diverse Student Population”
- Other topics and speakers are still being considered
- Lorna will be contacting Dr. Sharon Chubbuck for possible dates
- Dates need to be finalized in January
- Should this be an I-Share only event?
- Group seemed to agree the forum should be open to all CARLI members, but tabled discussion regarding library students
