Announcements

  • CARLI received a video message of congratulatory remarks on the 40th anniversary of CARLI, from Tim Killeen, President of the University of Illinois System.
  • CARLI continues to offer a variety of online events related to Alma and Primo VE, including Open Office Hours webinars and other types of interactive events. CARLI has retired the Alma Primo Contacts email list that was established for the implementation process. CARLI has returned to using the I-Share email list for general Alma Primo VE announcements. We are incredibly grateful to our members for their flexibility, patience, and dedication as we completed the migration process and started operations.
  • CARLI staff are preparing for the FY22 e-resources selection cycle. We anticipate opening the system for libraries to make subscription commitments from the end of March through the first week of May. Vendors will be offering 53 new products in this cycle. Several vendors are keeping pricing flat this year, including Bloomsbury, Gale, Infobase/Credo, ProQuest (sole source content), and Swank.
  • CARLI will broker Syndetics Unbound, which includes all modules. Syndetics will give a trial to any interested library so that they can get started with the product before the July 1 term.
  • CARLI is currently downloading usage statistics for our fiscal year vendors and they are available by request.
  • CARLI staff conducted an E-Resources Introduction Webinar in January about how the e-resources program works and demystifying frequently asked questions. A recording of the presentation is available at https://youtu.be/z3HZOd9Oa8E.
  • CARLI will submit its documents on March 8 for the FY 2022 budget process for the University of Illinois System. CARLI will make their presentation to the Budget Review Committee later this spring.
  • CARLI will calculate membership fees for FY25–FY27 based on updated 3-year FTE averages as directed by the 2019 Board action. The new fees will be available for Board review at the June 2021 meeting.
  • I-Share Assessment Task Force is investigating various models for recalculation of assessments to ensure a transparent and equitable process. The task force expects to have a proposal to the Board for consideration at the June 2021 meeting.
  • The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force has met to identify and initiate steps to assist in breaking down barriers to inclusion. These steps include looking at our foundational documents (e.g., CARLI’s mission, vision, strategic plan; and committee charges) to embed CARLI’s commitment to DEI in our work.
  • EBSCO staff held a webinar on February 19 to introduce the OpenAthens authentication product to CARLI libraries that either have not decided to start to use OpenAthens, or who have implemented OpenAthens "Phase 1" (sign on to Alma) but have not yet decided about using OpenAthen for e-resource authentication ("Phase 2" of the CARLI OpenAthens projects).
  • The FY20 CARLI Annual Report is complete and available from the CARLI web site at https://www.carli.illinois.edu/sites/files/governance/2020CARLIAnnualReport.pdf.
  • The New Directors Institute was held February 10–12 with 39 registered attendees. The event was held via Zoom over 3 days. Evaluations were very positive. The sessions were recorded and are available from the CARLI website at https://www.carli.illinois.edu/carli-new-directors-institute-1.
  • CARLI’s spring calendar of events includes a wide variety of offering library staff, including both CARLI-hosted events and those offered through the Professional Development Alliance.
