Decisions:

• The Committee approved the minutes from the July 28, 2017, meeting.

Announcements:

• CARLI is offering Voyager Circulation Client training on September 14.
• CARLI Senior Director Anne Craig has been holding “listening sessions” around the state with directors of CARLI member libraries. She will use the information gathered to assist in strategic planning.
• A date for the renovations of the CARLI Office has not yet been determined, but they will start no later than February 2018. During that time, the CARLI Office will remain open, although staff members may telecommute.

Discussion:

• Belinda, Debbie, Eric, and Lorna had an opportunity to view the Tipasa introductory webinar on August 15. The Committee is tabling any programming on Tipasa.
• The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum has expressed interest in hosting a resource-sharing open house.  ISL and UIS have already held open houses; SIM and LLC have not. An alternative would be to hold a forum, including possibly co-hosting one with a related CARLI committee, such as Public Services.
• The Committee needs to prepare a one-page summary of its 2016-17 annual project for the CARLI Annual Meeting on November 17. (The due date is October 16.) Also, if someone from the Committee would like to give a presentation on the project at the meeting, Anne Craig will need to know by September 9. Eric has expressed interest in presenting, although he has not confirmed yet whether he will be able to attend.
• Eric submitted a poster proposal on the 2016-17 annual project for this year’s Illinois Library Association Conference. He has not yet learned whether the proposal was accepted. (Update: ILA has approved the poster proposal. Eric, Thomas, and Marcella will work with Amy, on putting together the poster.)
• The Committee has not yet decided on the focus of the 2017-18 annual project but should have a better idea by the September meeting. Debbie and Lorna suggested checking the CARLI website for past webinars and other projects that might generate some ideas. They also recommended asking co-workers about what their professional-development interests and needs are, and then using the feedback to formulate a project that would benefit the CARLI membership.

Tasks assigned:

• Rand will prepare a draft of the September listserv question for the Committee to review, about how libraries train their student employees.
• Thomas will check with a colleague who presented at last year’s Great Lakes Resource Sharing Conference, on resource-sharing trends over time, to see if he would be interested in giving a webinar to the CARLI membership.
• Eric will put together a draft summary of last year’s project for the CARLI Annual Meeting and send it to the Committee for feedback.
• Everyone will check the projects on the CARLI website and ask colleagues about their professional interests, in order to generate ideas for this year’s annual project. Eric and Thomas will update the Google Doc that has last year’s project ideas to include space for new ideas.

• The next meeting is scheduled for 10:00-11:30 AM on Wednesday, September 20. Kelly will take the minutes.
