Decisions

Minutes of the February 27, 2012 meeting were approved.

Announcements

Last minute Collection Care II workshop plans were discussed:

  • Elizabeth sent out informational emails to participants of the previous Collections Care Workshop and to member libraries within an hour's drive of the venue.
  • Five slots remain open, so anyone who knows a colleague who may be interested should let them know; the workshop is now open to include more than one staff from an institution.
  • Any PWG member attending as a presenter or helper needs to register in order to get an accurate count for the provided lunch.
  • Archival supplier donations were all received.
  • Contact Elizabeth about the number of handouts needed and if presenters are using Powerpoint (she will get permission to use equipment at the workshop venue).

Katie asked about the recent Digital Preservation workshop. Julie said it went well and is awaiting feedback from evaluations. The next digital preservation webinar – about preserving email – is scheduled for May 1.

Tasks Assigned

Newsletter articles: Bonnie assigned to write April article about training in preservation techniques; Katie assigned to write May article – topic to be announced.

Webliography: Committee members should review the links for their assigned areas of the Preservation Webliography before the next PWG meeting. Any updates can be emailed to Elizabeth and new links should be posted on the group's wiki under “Possible Links” for review at the May 11 meeting.

New term for PWG: Julie is rotating off as Chair and PWG member at the end of June. A new chair needs to be selected by the next meeting. Contact her if you are willing to serve or have questions. Also, CARLI has called for volunteers for committee members. Only one member per CARLI institution can serve at a time. Those that volunteer for the Preservation Working Group should have some preservation knowledge.

Brainstorm ideas for next term’s programs and activities, to be discussed at the in-person meeting.

If the group wants to present another burn simulation workshop, the date needs to be arranged soon with the Fire Services Institute, as their schedule fills up quickly. Julie will check with the ICPN about their planned burn simulation workshop and whether there is a need for CARLI to plan a future one.

Elizabeth will provide information for lunch for the in-person meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
