Projects

CARLI Newsletter Contributions 

Submissions are up-to-date for the next four months (written by Cason, David, Julie, Ross); Ross’ blog with pictures connected to his article was noted.

Preservation Webliography

Members should check the links for their assigned sections and post any updates or additional links by October 28; corrections/additions may be either posted on the wiki or emailed to Elizabeth Clarage; Julie will send an email reminding members of this.

Workshops

• Julie is turning in the paperwork for Collections Care II by November 4; the workshop (limited to 20 participants) will be held April 23, 2012, from 10am-3pm at the Heartland Community College, Normal; the workshop will be in two parts – a presentation about withdrawing collection items due to condition issues (about 45 minutes, presented by Julie and/or Ross) and a hands-on segment about enclosures for circulating and special collections (about 3 hours, presented by Andrew Huot and Bonnie); Julie needs supply lists and idea of vendors to contact about donating supplies by Oct 25.

• Mold/Water Disaster Recovery Workshop – Bonnie asked if this workshop can be linked in any way with similar-themed workshops currently being planned by the Illinois Collections Preservation Network (ICPN); Julie will look into what CARLI can do to support those workshops.

Announcements

Julie gave an update on activities of the Digital Preservation subcommittee:

• Planning continues – choosing speakers, deciding on topics – for a program about the basics of digital preservation; the program is called “Digital Preservation: An Introduction to Technologies and Processes for the Care of Digital Collections” and is scheduled for April 10, 2012.

• Congratulations to Lynne Thomas at NIU for being awarded an IMLS National Leadership grant for a project to set up institutional repositories for digital information.

There was no other business. Meeting adjourned at about 9:30 am.
