Decisions

  • Julie Wroblewski will take the minutes.
  • Spring Mold Remediation Workshop: CARLI has approved the costs for the spring workshop, including food and speakers' fees. We have not yet confirmed a location because we are waiting to hear from Columbia. We believe that Northwestern is out of the running; need to confirm with Katie. If we have not heard from Columbia College by the end of this week (December 14), we will revisit using IIT as the location. there is some question about whether we can get the dates we want with IIT - they have indicated they would prefer late May. We will need to start publicizing dates in January, before our next meeting, so be prepared to work on this through email and other remote channels. Blog Posts Ross' and Katie's blog entries did not get posted. Julie W will still be posting her assigned February topic; we will carry the fall posts forward to December/January and March/April. We will wait until our next meeting to assign topics for May - July.
  • Publicizing NEH mini grant information: There will be a January newsletter article in addition to a blog post and information on the website. This was deemed sufficient.
  • Newsletter articles: Ross, not Cason, will write the December newsletter article on light controls. Julie will cover "impact of an hour" for the April newsletter.
  • Link Testing and new Website: Any changes to links will end up on the new website. Per Elizabeth, the site is close to being ready for testing, so at some point there will be a new URL for link testing.

Announcements

  • Remember to review and approve the October minutes.

  • The ICPN will hold fire/burn recovery workshops this spring. There are 2 one day workshops, on May 2 and May 3.
  • At its December 7 meeting, the CARLI Board approved the new committee structure to replace the existing working group structure. As of July 1, 2013, the group will be the Preservation Committee. Our charge has been altered slightly; Elizabeth's email of 11/15 contains the new wording:

Preservation Committee Charge The CARLI Preservation Committee works with the CARLI staff to identify, develop, and encourage cooperation and collaboration for preservation in a consortial setting. The committee will identify efficient and cost effective best practices. The Preservation Committee will collaborate with other CARLI committees and ad hoc groups to discuss issues of common interest and to facilitate joint program planning.

The committee may be assigned projects by the Board of Directors, or may independently develop projects and initiatives within the scope of its charge or in collaboration with other ad hoc groups. The committee will identify educational and training needs within its scope of responsibility and its collaboration with other committees, and will develop workshops, seminars, webinars, or other education opportunities to meet the needs of the membership. The committee will prepare appropriate documentation and reports, and will submit an annual report of its activities and accomplishments to Board of Directors.
