Decisions

• Minutes of the January 19, 2012, Public Services Working Group meeting were approved subject to their review and approval by working group members who attended the January meeting but were unable to attend today’s meeting.
• Persons who drive to the Public Services Open House at Chicago State University will be responsible for their own parking fees. Information regarding alternative transportation to the open house will be provided with registration materials.
• The working group will not provide information to prospective Public Services Open House attendees through registration materials about lodging options.
• Working group members who attend the Public Services Open House will be prepared to help with logistics or programming on the day of the event if needed.
• The meeting was adjourned at 1:50 p.m.

Announcements

• The Public Services Open House at Chicago State University will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012.
• The joint Public Services Working Group and Collections Working Group program will be held on either Wednesday, July 11, 2012, or Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Joliet Junior College.

Tasks assigned

• Poll working group members who attended the January working group meeting but were unable to attend today’s meeting regarding approval of the January meeting minutes. (Jane Currie)
• Obtain a Chicago State University campus map for use with Public Services Open House marketing and registration materials. (Sue Franzen)
• Communicate and coordinate with the appropriate Chicago State University representatives to finalize Public Services Open House luncheon plans. (Sue Franzen and Elizabeth Clarage)
• Confirm with Chicago State University representatives that all room reservations for the open house have been made. (Sue Franzen)
• Confirm with Chicago State University representatives whether they would like to provide beverages and snacks during open house registration. (Sue Franzen)
• Disseminate the “save the date” notice for the Public Services Open House via email to CARLI Public Services Interest Group members and through a post in the CARLI newsletter. Check past open house registration rosters against the Public Services Interest Group roster and email “save the date” notices to any registrant who is not on the Public Services Interest Group list. • Email personalized “save the date” notices to public services librarians in the northeastern Illinois region. (Bruce Stoffel)
• Request CARLI staff assistance with the Public Services Open House online registration form, with a goal of having a draft form ready for working group review at its March 15 meeting. (Elizabeth Clarage and Jennifer Masciadrelli)
• Send topic ideas for the joint Public Services Working Group/Collections Working Group program to Matt Rutherford and/or Andrew Lenaghan. (all working group members)
• Advise the group planning the Public Services Working Group/Collections Working Group program of the overlap in plenary speakers between the Public Services Open House and the collection development program in case that overlap has not otherwise been brought to the attention of the group.
