• April 12 meeting minutes were approved.
• June committee meeting was cancelled.
• Decision on chair or co-chair will take place via the committee’s email list.

Announcements

• Member Announcements:
  • Lesley Wolfgang (St. John’s College of Nursing): Institution has a new Chancellor.
  • Chad Kahl (Illinois State University): Fall enrollment is 1% ahead of last year.  Good news.  
  • Simone Williams (Southern Illinois University Edwardsville): Library has just completed interviews for a OER Librarian position.
• CARLI Announcements:
  • Lot of events coming up in May. OER courses and trainings series continuing.
  • Instruction Committee Annual Showcase will be a half day this year on Thursday afternoon, June 1.

Discussion

• There was some discussion about slow pace of librarians returning to in-person conferences.
• Committee review of the “Inclusive and Accessible Public Services: An Open Discussion” event.
  • Lesley was the moderator and worked to get discussion going.
  • Only nine responses to survey so far. 59 total participants were logged in at some point during the session.
  • Denise will send one additional reminder to complete the post-program survey.
  • Some feedback asked for more “organization”, like breakout rooms with narrower subtopics. But others appreciated the open discussion and ability to learn and ask each other questions.
  • There was some interest in specific types of accessibility, E.g., neurodivergence.  This or similar focus on accessibility could provide a possible topic for a future program.
  • Notes include some identifying information of institutions, but the identifying information will be removed before posting the notes on CARLI PSC page for attendees to review.
  • There was a discussion of how best to post content from the original survey that had been condensed into the slides.
• Draft of Annual Report
  • Chad has created a draft.  A few details, including survey results on the recent program, will be added.  The final report is due by May 31.  It was decided the annual report will include attachments for the original survey feedback and for the program evaluation feedback.
• June 14 meeting will be cancelled. Discussion and appointment of new chairs can happen via email.
  • Chad, Katie, and Anne are rotating off the committee.
• An update to the committee’s Controlled Digital Lending (CDL) webpage content will be posted to bring attention to the recent court case decision, which impacts on the practice of CDL.
