Decisions

  • Committee approved March’s minutes.
  • Inclusive and Accessible Public Services: An Open Discussion
    • Denise will send information about the program to CARLI email lists.
    • Lesley will moderate.
    • Anne will take notes during the session.
    • Lesley and Chad will work on the revising the slides for the session.  Information from the slides as drafted will be used in the committee’s annual report.
    • Jennifer will monitor chat during the session.
    • Anne will create a document in Box for a prompt for the program just in case participants aren’t engaged.
    • Elizabeth and Denise will create an evaluation and share with the committee for review.

Tasks Assigned

  • Minutes taken by Simone Williams.
  • Chad will start the committee’s annual report.

Announcements

  • Member Announcements:
    • Ashley McMullin (DePaul University): The library is hiring for access services positions.
    • Lesley Wolfgang (Saint John’s College of Nursing): The institution is hiring a new Chancellor.
  • CARLI Announcements:
    • Call for PSC committee volunteers has gone out. There are some openings.
    • Shared CARLI calendar events. Highlighted Denise presenting on April 13th during the Alma Primo VE Office Hours.
    • Collections Management Committee interested in doing DEI work to create more inclusive collections. They are hosting an open conversation on April 27.
    • There is  an in-person session at Bradley University on May 19th, 2023 on Prioritizing Privacy: Data Ethics Training for Library Professionals.
    • Staff highlighted the Professional Development Alliance Accessibility Toolkit Series.

Discussion

  • Inclusive and Accessible Public Services Program (About 20 people registered; only sent out to email lists)
    • Chairs invited those that included their names to the survey to the session; 5 people said yes and 3 people said no to participating in Program.
    • CARLI staff will send announcement to CARLI email lists.
    • Agenda for program already created.
    • Session won’t be recorded.
    • Create slide deck (survey and responses and maybe word cloud will go here).
    • Lesley will moderate program.
    • Anne will take notes for program.
    • Jennifer will monitor chat for the program.
    • Anne will create a document in Box for a prompt for the program just in case participants aren’t engaged.
    • Lesley will edit slide deck already created from previous programs; Chad will assist.
    • Elizabeth and Denise will create program evaluation and share with the committee for review.
    • PSC committee members must register for May 4th program if planning on attending.
  • Annual report is due May 31st
    • Chad is already working on it.
