Decisions
- Chad and Lesley shared with the committee that they will split co-chair duties. Chad will lead the committee during the fall and Lesley will lead the committee beginning in January.
- Approved May 2022 minutes.
- Set up minutes taking roster by last name starting with Steve Brantley.
- Monthly meetings: The Committee picked second Wednesday of the month at 10:00 – 11:00 am, starting Sept. 14th.
- Committee will continue to Brainstorm 2022-2023 projects at its next meeting.
- Committee will discuss meeting in person at its next meeting.

Announcements
- Member Announcements:
- Katie Maier-O’Shea (North Park University) Open positions and understaffing stress. When filling new position have not had as many applicants as they had pre-COVID.
- Arlie Sims (Columbia College Chicago) New User Experience & E-resources librarian search is underway. Campus COVID rules may change depending on Chicago guidelines.
- Ashley McMullin (DePaul University) DePaul is hiring and AUL for Collections and Discovery Services and a Metadata Librarian.
- Chad Kahl (Illinois State University) Milner Library has searches underway for variety of positions.
- Simone Williams (Southern Illinois University Edwardsville) Library never shut down during COVID. Campus is nearly at 100% capacity. First day of classes today. Campus is changing their work from home protocols.
- Lesley Wolfgang (St. John’s College of Nursing) Large class of incoming Nursing students that began last week. The institution has started a Doctorate program.

- Reviewed Committee charge and previous years’ projects & reports.
- Brainstorm 2022-23 Project ideas:
- PrimoVE and impact on public services?
- Who at library is working on Primo VE customizations and how? Collaborate with Discovery Primo VE Committee possibly?
- Technical side of PVE and Public Services side disconnect- how to communicate better and what are barriers to changes?
- Student success staff and librarian collaborations.
- New ways to staff Public Services.
- Trend to have student engagement/student success librarian/ marketing-programming librarian?
- Blended services/Staffing models: chat email, student workers at Circ., mix of in-person and virtual-- what is reference service now?
- Tools like Springshare’s new platform, or screen capture video, Zoom (consults by appt.)
- Fewer student workers due to campus changes and min wage increases.
- Undergraduate or grad students doing reference.
- Access Services/Circulation too affected by staff shortages and changes.
- Combining service points like Circulation and Reference.
- This was a sub-topic of PSC work in 2017-2018 on Library Public Service Models.
- How engage students in post covid world? Ex. Business classes or freshman common courses online only.
- Role of the library building to build library foot traffic and library services.
