Decisions

  • December minutes were approved with edits.
  • The Literature Review and Research for Implementing Primo VE subgroup was disbanded and members moved to other groups.

  • Members continue working in subgroups.
  • Watch Primo VE training videos if you have not already done so.
  • Elizabeth will send email to Creating User Guides and Tutorials subgroup.

Announcements

  • Member Announcements:
    • ISU Dean interviews are in progress.
    • NIU has an Associate Dean for Collection Management position open.
  • CARLI Announcements:
    • Reina has resigned from the committee.
    • Workshops:
      • Still spots left for Alma Workshops at the following locations:
        • Monmouth College
        • Parkland College
        • Lewis and Clark Community College
        • Heartland Community College
      • The workshop at Harper College is full.
      • CARLI is reimbursing if the travel is more than 30 miles.
    • Webinars: Instruction Committee is planning a webinar on April 1st, "Cut the CRAAP: Fresh Takes on Evaluating Information." Send in a proposal by Feb. 11th.
    • Open Office Hours (on Thursdays):
      • Tomorrow: Cleaning up fees and fines for patrons (Remove fees so you can have a fresher start in Alma.)    
    • Future office hours topics:
      • Reviewing workflows at bindery, display case, etc.
      • More information on Primo VE.
    • Reminder to watch the training sessions for Primo VE.
    • November 14th Office Hours had the first look at Primo VE.
    • In Primo VE, there is a category called “everything” – besides searching local catalog, will be searching any of the activated indexing tool, e.g. JSTOR, Gale…
    • A more complete version of Primo VE will be done in February and we will look at the Central Discovery Index then.
    • Alma/Primo VE has monthly updates.

Discussion

  • Annual Project - Subgroup Updates:
    • In-Person Meeting/Program
      • Possible dates: March 16–April 7 at Joliet Junior College. The group will invite subgroups to present.
      • Event details need to be formed up soon.
      • Need people for the in-person training group. Lesley and Caitlin are interested.
    • Literature Review and Research for Implementing Primo VE
      • The group was disbanded and members moved to other groups. The Instruction Committee agreed to this decision.
    • User Guides/Tutorials
      • Used the categorize guides based on the categories on the Alma.
      • Email is ready to go so Elizabeth & Denise will send out box note when ready. They will be ready to present at the event.  
      • Next meeting is Wed Jan. 22nd from 11:00 to noon.
    • User Experience/Usability (now including Customizing Primo VE groups)
      • Next meeting is Friday, January 24th.
      • Elizabeth shared that the staff liaison from the Resource Sharing Committee noted that it is interested in working with this subgroup.
