Decisions

  • Meeting Minutes from Jan. 3, 2019 were approved.
  • The Annual Project will be a webpage with a sidebar directional/table of contents similar to the CARLI Open Illinois Initiative webpage. (https://www.carli.illinois.edu/products-services/collections-management/open-ed-resource-overview)
  • The meeting adjourned at 2:50pm.

Announcements

  • Member Announcements:
    • College of DuPage officially opens their Media Lab.
  • CARLI Announcements:
    • Nancy has resigned from the group. Call for volunteers will go out in late March.
    • Linked Data Webinar 2: Linked Data in the Library will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, 10am-11am.

Tasks Assigned

  • Minutes taken by Reina Williams.
  • Elizabeth will create with Google documents, folders for the committee to organize the topics for its Annual Project.
  • All committee members pick a section of the document that Nestor created and start reviewing content and start populating the Google folders.

Discussion

  • Change Is Good: You Go First! Leading Others To and Through Change, April 2, 2019 Program
    • Three speakers have been confirmed. One each from Loyola University Chicago & Northwestern University as they have implemented ExLibris Alma and Primo and Illinois College for implementing New VuFind.

    • The committee compiled a list of questions to be answered by the presenter(s):
      • What was your planning timetables for implementation?
      • How did you get staff buy in to change?
      • What did you use/documentation for training staff and student workers?
      • Lessons learned: What they wish they had known before the implementation started? What would they do differently?
      • How does the implementation impact different departments within the library? Expected and unexpectedly?
    • Registration for the change management event is  full with 20+ on waitlist.  Aaron and Joanna are on the waitlist. Elizabeth and Denise will follow-up with them after the meeting.
  • Annual Project
    • The committee discussed Nestor’s document on “Assessment in Public Services.”
      • How will it be archived or documented? Can we add this to a website?
      • The committee decided that there should be a section on website with acknowledgement of committee members.
      • Background information: Books published in last 4 years
      • Assessment tools, instruments and methods presented after background information
      • CARLI can provide a webpage for project
      • Collection evaluation, ie. Reference collection, Nestor
      • Next Steps:
        • Committee members pick section and start reviewing content in Nestor’s document
        • The committee will use Google to organize the topics.
        • The webpage will have a direction sidebar, similar to the look and feel of LibGuides.  See the CARLI Open Illinois webpage for a model.
        • Contact authors to get resources to add to project.
        • Need to create Google folders by section of topic. Elizabeth will do.
