Tasks Assigned

• Minutes taken by Teri Embrey.
• Tonia will create a Box Note about the possible future panel discussion on disasters so any future discussion will have all the notes in place.
• Recommended Disaster Planning/Response Resources Handout (https://www.carli.illinois.edu/sites/files/group/preservation-comm/Recommended%20Disaster%20Planning%20Resources.pdf) for January 25 program:
• Nicole/Elizabeth will reach out to Jennifer Hain Teper about using an updated version of her handout
• Committee members will check links and review the handout & send any updates to the committee email list.

Decisions

• The meeting was called to order at 10:35am.
• Melania Avery motioned to approve the minutes.  Seconded by William Alan Schlaack. December 2021 minutes were approved.
• Committee decided to table the discussion about a panel discussion on disasters until the next committee year.
• The meeting adjourned at 11:08am.

Announcements

• Member Library Announcements:
  • Melina Avery (University of Chicago): Library staff are working from home with no known end date due to COVID.
  • Tonia Grafakos (Northwestern University): Conservation residency will soon be posted for Northwestern University.
• CARLI Announcements:
  • CARLI staff will be working remotely into February.
  • January programs are still taking registrations.
  • New continuing education program in development for April on changes to library schools’ curriculums.

Discussion

• Annual Project
  • January Newsletter deadline is Jan. 21, 2022. CARLI staff asked if the January draft could be shared with them by January 20 so that they had time to add to the website.
  • Discussion ensued on continuing to notify colleagues via e-lists and newsletters for the upcoming Working with Fire Professional program on January 25th.
  • Discussion related to the disaster planning article ideas occurred. Any additional ideas for articles should be added to the Box note.
  • Committee continued discussions re: a panel discussion on disasters, particularly tornados. Consensus was to table this idea until the next committee year 2022-2023.

The next Preservation Committee meeting will be February 14, 2022, at 10:30am.
