• Article assignments:
• Jade Kastel: November, introduction and resources on developing a disaster plan
• Becky Koch: December, disaster kits
• Tonia Grafakos: January, first response documents
• Melina Avery: February, contact list on campus
• Will Schlaack will work with Jade Kastel and Rob DeLand to make a pre-recorded presentation about the committee’s 2020s annual project to be shown at the CARLI Annual Meeting, due by the first week in November.

Decisions

• John High from the Illinois Fire Services Institute will do a virtual presentation about working with fire professionals, likely in late January.
• Members will write a newsletter series entitled “Quick Tips for Disasters/Emergencies.”
• The committee will revisit discussion of tours in 2022.

CARLI Announcements:
The Professional Development Alliance completed part one of “Application of 3D Printing Services in the Academic Library,” part two is this Wednesday.

Discussion

• Nicole reached out to David Ehrenhart at the Illinois Fire Services Institute who suggested John High give CARLI a presentation on working with fire professionals.
  • The program will be about one hour.
  • CARLI will handle registration and moderation.
  • CARLI is waiting to confirm the date, likely late January.
  • If committee members are interested, they can help introduce the speaker and to moderate.
• Topic for newsletter articles: “Quick Tips for Disasters/Emergencies”
  • Disaster Kits – where to put them, what to put in them
  • First response documents – i.e. what to do when you see a leak
  • How to make a contact list – who to contact, both internally and externally
  • Road map of most valuable materials in the collection, how to make one
  • Resources on how to make a full disaster plan
• Virtual tours
  • There are no pre-recorded tours of labs in Illinois.
  • We would have to reach out to an organization to arrange a live, virtual tour.
  • We will table all tours until 2022.
