Decisions

• Jenny Dunbar was selected to take minutes.
• The August 2015 minutes were approved.
• Meeting adjourned at 10:45 am.

Announcements

• Elizabeth announced that one of the two vacancies on the Preservation Committee have been filled. Mary Burns from Northern Illinois University has accepted a one year committee assignment. Elizabeth confirmed that students are not allowed on CARLI committees unless the student is an actual employee of an institution. Elizabeth asked that the committee forward the names of any potential members to her.

Discussion Items

• Fall open house:
  • Beth, Miriam, Elizabeth, and Sherry Byrne from the University of Chicago met and confirmed the logistics for the fall open house on Friday, October 23, 2015. Additionally, Elizabeth has arranged for the Center for Research Libraries (CRL) to be part of the open house.
  • Since both institutions are confirmed for the open house, it was agreed that there would be no need to produce a handout of nearby exhibits.
  • Announcements for the open house will go out to the CARLI members at the end of this week. Since we can accommodate up to 50 registrants, it was felt there was no need to open registration to committee members before the general CARLI membership. The deadline for registration is Monday, October 19th.
• Preservation Annual Project – Audio Visual Preservation Workshop
  • Josh Harris, media preservation specialist at UIUC, will be asked to give an audio visual preservation workshop. He is currently out of the country at a conference. The possible times we will ask for are either April or July 2016.
• Some members have begun checking their Webliography links. Elizabeth reminded the group that additions need to be approved by the committee.
• The February newsletter tip and blog post remains unassigned. It was thought that perhaps Mary Burns will be agreeable to taking it.
• If the spring workshop does occur in April, it was agreed that having our in-person meeting the Tuesday after the workshop will allow us to discuss and evaluate the workshop.

Tasks Assigned

• Miriam will contact Josh Harris regarding the spring 2015 workshop when he returns to work.
• Members of the committee will have their Webliography links checked and additions given to the other members prior to the next meeting.
• Beth will contact Mary Burns regarding the February newsletter tip/blog post.
