Conference Call

Reports

CARLI report:

  • CARLI will be conducting circulation training 4-11-12 at the CARLI office.
  • PDA/POD on demand patron driven acquisition Purchase on demand project Patron driven acq ready to go live 2-14-12.  Phase one took place last year records loaded only into the CU Urbana database.  Working properly.  Records loaded into the RESDB sharing database into VuFind.  Preview of records displayed via screenshot during meeting.  These books will be housed in the CU libraries.
  • CARLI staff will be monitoring circulation and review the project when funds are depleted
  • CARLI is working on getting a larger room for the IACRL Discovery meeting, as of now 75 people are registered.
  • Mel announced she will be retiring as of July 1, 2012.

IUG report:

  • IUG met in January. Update regarding the PDA and ebook forum.  Cataloging group is working on a May forum. Instruction Team is updating their wiki, pleased with their unconference, 37 people registered, several sites had more than one person.  Spring Instruction forum, June 6 or 8, “Library Instruction for a Diverse Student Population.”  Sharon Chubbock to be the speaker.  OPAC team did not have a report. Resource Sharing Team did and activities were reported.  IUG is planning for an early April webinar, April 5 at 10 am; topics include future of ILS, Voyager timeline and status of XC with demo, discussion of what IUG has been doing and who they are, and  something on available documentation.  For this year’s Eluna Conference, IUG is planning on having a presentation on topic of how things are better in a hosted cloud environment and what non-consortium schools can take from our consortium experience.  There will be Discovery Systems demos on March 15, prior to the IACRL conference, demos will go from 9:30-4, one hour per demo.

Forum

  • April 25 at Illinois Wesleyan Univ. Resource Sharing Forum:
  • So far, we have the theme settled but not content.  Resource sharing 101. Decide on how we want to spend the day.  Considered grand overall plan of morning, concentrating on entire room participation, afternoon, interchangeable sessions.
  • Best practices for delivery and packaging
  • Walk through of call slips to manifests, workflow best practices
  • Morning, more general discussion, patron driven acquisition, part of CARLI report?
  • Managing patrons with new blocks numbers based on first couple of months of having blocks in place
  • Next meeting come up with more specific key points.  Each of us choose a topic we would like to discuss.
  • Mel would be able to address lost procedures. She has posted second revision of the document.
  • Requirements of belonging to CARLI and I-Share.  How to be a friendly neighbor
  • CARLI report, results of PDA and stats and numbers of LOST items
  • Then call and response on hot ticket items in resource sharing (preface with IShare resourcse sharing code is best resource) library practices in reality ask the “experts”
  • Open registration starting in a couple of weeks.
  • Open recruitment for other experts
