Instruction Committee Meeting Minutes: January 27, 2017

Discussion & Decisions:

• Second webinar with Amy Van Epps confirmed for March 9, 1-2pm CST/ 2-3pm EST.
• Update from Lorna on location for Showcase.
  • Multiple institutions contacted, but parking/transportation is issue for many.
  • National Lewis University is willing to do it and looking at May/June dates. Need to give dates for them to consider.
• CARLI repository of instructional materials proposal.
  • Based on feedback from the Annual CARLI meeting, several members would like CARLI to develop a repository of handouts, tutorials, LibGuides, etc. that librarians are using with their classes.
  • Could be particularly helpful for new librarians in CARLI member libraries to see what materials already exist. Work falls largely on CARLI employees.
  • Decision: Repository passes 4-2.
• Craft Showcase call for proposals - Date TBD.
  • May 22 or June 12 are possibilities for Showcase event, so the call could go out in April.
  • Ideally have the draft of proposal sent to committee members in March.
  • Discussed theme “Evolving Library Instruction” and how to relate Showcase to this theme.
• Lorna mentioned the Call for Proposals for ILA, and encouraged members to consider submitting. ILA would like to include more academic libraries.
• The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 am.

Tasks assigned:

• Debbie will forward information from ILA.
• Create promotional/registration email - draft to committee by February 3; send to listserv by Feb 9.
