  • Discussion of the committee’s annual project has been tabled until October.
  • The Instruction Committee will not give a report at the CARLI Annual Meeting.


  • Registration for the CARLI Annual Meeting is now open.  The Instruction Committee was invited to report on the previous year’s work but the invitation was declined because it was felt that the committee did not have anything substantial to present.

Tasks assigned:

  • Lorna to contact possible venues for the 2015 Instruction Showcase
  • Michelle to send out revised post to the ILI-L and InfoLit listservs.


  • Format preferences for reporting out the committee’s work?
    • Brief descriptions for each webinar and event in a packet

  • Recap of the listserv email and next steps
    • There were few responses to the initial listserv post on library partnerships in the state.  It is believed that this was due to a number of factors ranging from the time of year, the day the message was sent, librarians’ hesitation to brag about successful examples, and librarians being protective their ideas.
    • There are concerns that the ineffectiveness of the CARLI instruction listserv might limit options for webinars or events in the fall.  
    • The question was raised if there is a more appropriate forum for collecting information on library partnerships.  It was suggested that we post our call for information on the InfoLit and ILI-L listservs to seek feedback from librarians outside the state.  If this is also ineffective, the committee will reassess its options for other alternatives to gather input for the annual project and other smaller events.
    • To broaden the dialog of library partnerships, the post should be rephrased to include struggles that instruction programs face and to clarify that the interest is on instruction programs and reaching out to faculty members, not institution-wide outreach programs.
  • 2015 Instruction Showcase
    • The 2015 Instruction Showcase will be held on a Thursday in June. Possible venues include Aurora University, Joliet Junior College, Olivet Nazarene and Illinois Wesleyan University.  
    • Preferences for selecting a venue include: easy to get to, sufficient parking, access to public transportation, and if possible, free.
