I-Cat Team Meeting: July 25, 2012

Members absent: John Whisler (EIU), Deborah Morris (ROU), and Lynnette Fields (SIE)

CARLI Staff Present: Cathy Salika (CARLI), Jessica Gibson (CARLI), and Casey Sutherland (CARLI)

• Meeting Logistics: The team decided to schedule the 2012-2013 meetings at our face-to-face meeting on August 20, 2012 from 10AM to 3PM.
• The team reviewed the CARLI organizational structure and communication tools.

Old Business

• The minutes from the May 1, 2012 meeting were approved.
• RDA Training: Cathy stated Susan Singleton wants to have CARLI involved in RDA training for member libraries.  We need to determine the target audience and depth of training needed.  ICAT will continue to maintain the team wiki with RDA training information.  After discussing the training needs at our individual libraries, the team decided to continue this discussion at our August 20 meeting.

New Business

• PCC Acceptable Headings: the team might need to make recommendations to the CARLI community regarding authority control and clean-up.  A suggestion was made that we might need to schedule refresher training on the Strawn utilities to do authority work when the headings change.  Since this is a complicated issue, the team decided to discuss it in depth at the August 20 meeting.
• Fall and Spring forums: Cathy asked about the Fall and Spring forums.  It was suggested we have a webinar in the fall for Strawn training and the Spring forum will be in person RDA training.  The team decided to discuss the forums in depth at the August 20 meeting.
