I-Cat Team Meeting: December 13, 2011

Conference Call

Meeting convened at 9:30 a.m.

Members attending: Kristin Martin (UIC), chair, Heather Parisi (DOM), Lori Murphy (DPU), Cheryl Wegner (NBY), John Whisler (EIU).

Members absent: Catherine Suchy (JOL), Susan Gallagher (UIS), Dennis McGuire (COL), Emily Prather-Rogers (NCC).

IUG liaison: Ted Schwitzner (Absent)

Staff attending: Cathy Salika (CARLI staff liason), Casey Sutherland, Jessica Gibson.

Decisions:

  • Approval of minutes from the November meeting were approved as revised.
  • Tasks Assigned:
  • John, Cheryl and possibly Kristen will test the new tag tables once Jessica posts them and sends out the URL.
  • Casey will use the tip of the day as a reminder of the Strawn utilities webinar.

Discussion:

  • New tag tables. Jessica has revised the tag tables. Before posting them on the CARLI website, she asked for volunteers to test them in a real environment.  John and Cheryl were definite yes volunteers with Kristen as a maybe.  Testing will last until January.
  • Fall forum evaluations.  There was some discussion on the form and whether past responders had an opportunity to rate. Casey said the same online evaluation form for webinars was used.  Kristin will check on what she remembers. Responders gave new ideas and gave requests for more of the same specifically the Strawn utilities.  Cathy suggested sending a reminder about the availability of the Strawn utilities webinar. 
  • Joint Spring Forum with IACQ update.  Kristin summarized yesterday’s call (December 12).  The survey was finalized and sent out.  The next conference will be January 12th at 2 p.m.

IUG Report:

Ted Schwitzner was absent but sent the following email message prior to the meeting.  “In the event that I don’t make it on, there is no IUG report at this time. Our next meeting is this Friday. One of our discussion items is a proposed ELUNA program on IUG and its Teams (such as ICAT), and how the model could inform consortia and libraries operating in the cloud.”
