Discussion
- Jacob agreed to co-chair ERMC for the remainder of the academic year, since Jennifer had to step down from the committee.
- The group looked at the February and March survey results for ideas for future planning.
- Megan noted that the comment about “ERM management in general” was a bit too general to be helpful.
- Yanira suggest we might ask how long people have been in their roles, in order to know how to be most useful to new ER librarians. For instance, there is an understanding that the work is cyclical, but what does that mean? Some of the terminology also overlaps and may not be clear.
- There are always a number of fires to put out, so how do ER librarians decide what to prioritize? Also, the market changes to quickly, writing documentation is so difficult – it takes so much time and will quickly become outdated.
- Robin noted the Core Competencies were very helpful when they got started. Robin offered an introduction to E-resources for subject librarians, which really helped them understand the work for themselves. They also cited the e-resources lifecycle as being helpful.
- Elizabeth suggested that perhaps a “chat” could be useful and fun, rather than a presentation. Then it could be opened up for questions.
- Ted mentioned that there is a lot of value in being vulnerable and acknowledging there may be no point of mastery in the work.
- Marisa thought CARLI staff could go back and look at the Alma Confidence Survey for ideas, especially now that we are 5 years post-migration.
