Announcements

CARLI Updates

  • The CY22 Selection System closed on November 5. Jenny and Nicole have taken a preliminary look at selections, which are similar to last year. The biggest decreases came from community colleges
  • The CARLI Annual Meeting took place Wednesday, November 10.
  • Licensing update: CARLI is still in early talks with MLA about MLA Handbook Plus. Negotiations will continue once the CY22 selection cycle is wrapped up.
  • Elizabeth provided an update on the consortial ebook program:
    • A new ebook site is up on the CARLI website and is still under development
    • Records are in I-Share for the Wiley and Oxford titles that are part of the current program. For libraries not in I-Share, records will be available in OCLC Collection Manager. Announcements about this will go out next week.
    • For Wiley titles (including e-textbooks) selected for perpetual purchase by libraries, these have been accepted, and CARLI is waiting for the invoice. The list of Oxford titles chosen for perpetual purchase is being tweaked a bit.  Back in March, some ebooks scheduled to be released in April-June 2021 were selected for purchase based on content, since no usage was available for them yet. Because publication dates for some of these titles were pushed ahead until next year, CARLI needs to identify replacement titles to purchase instead.
    • CARLI staff met with Oxford and Wiley to look at a possible Year 3 of a crowdfunding program, with the goal of sending information out to members before the new year.
