CARLI Updates

Congratulations to Cindy Clennon on her upcoming retirement from CARLI!  Hiring process for a new Senior Electronic Resources Coordinator is underway.

CARLIis discussing the potential for CARLI brokering resources for non-CARLI members, as an alternate stream of revenue.

Preparation for the Voyager to Alma/Primo migration is ongoing.  It is not yet clear what impact Alma/Primo may have on the CPC; this may be influenced by the new CARLI Director of Electronic Resources.  CARLI will be adding full consortial purchases to the Network Zone on behalf of member libraries, while individual libraries will be responsible for activating other resources.

The CARLI Selection System successfully migrated from self-hosted to a cloud-hosted service on Amazon Cloud.  CARLI will be looking for suggestions for expanding and enriching the functionality of the system; CPC could go through enhancement suggestions and prioritize.

E-Resources Updates

Agreement with Sage is in process.  CARLI hopes to be able to cover all Sage products under one master agreement/universal license.  If this is not possible, will prioritize product negotiations.

CARLI would like to consolidate and streamline all licensing going forward.  Consolidating licenses and extended license periods would save time and effort.

Agreement with ARTSTOR is also in process.

CARLI Director Updates

Board Liaisons for CARLI Committees came out of the strategic planning process; CARLI hopes that board liaisons will increase communication between committees and the board.

When possible, annual committee projects should focus on Alma/Primo.

Upcoming CARLI events include the CARLI Career Fair (in partnership with the iSchool) on November 14, and the CARLI Mid-Level Leaders Symposium on September 25.

Discussion

PRODUCT PROPOSALS

Reviewed CARLI thresholds for e-resources brokering

APA e-Collections, APA Handbooks in Psychology:  Decision made not to pursue APA proposed products at this time

Statista:  There were enough interest from CARLI members on last e-resource survey and among CPC members to pursue.  Jenny will ask vendor for pricing and trial information and will put it on the upcoming e-resources interest survey.

Mary Ann Liebert:  CPC members are interested in more informaiton about the product.  Jenny will ask vendor for more information about pricing (individual journals) and about pricing by journal collection/package.

E-Resources Survey

CARLI would like to create and send an e-resources interest survey to the membership to determine which products to prioritize and focus on during the upcoming year.  Potential products/vendors to include on the survey are as follows:  Naxos, Social Explorers, Docuseek, Statista, Mary Ann Liebert.  Survey should be completed and distributed to membership in early October.  Other e-Resources discussed include IBIS World, Swank Streaming video, Alexander Street Press/Proquest streaming video, Symptom Media, History Makers, Proquest Safari, Web of Science, SciFinder.

CPC Annual Project

The CPC would like to host a symposium in Spring 2020.  Potential topics include negotiating licenses (training, best practices), Alma/Primo (analytics, workflows for e-Resources), Counter 5, Consortium Manager.  The committee will need to flesh out the symposium topic/focus by October 2019.  Committee members can reach out to libraries currently using Alma and potentially Ex Libris about presenting.  Pam will reach out to contact at Northwestern about presenting.  The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, SUNY, Pascal, and Orbis Cascade are other possible sources for speakers.

Tasks Assigned

Committee will need to review and vote to accept minutes from the CPC Meeting held on June 13, 2019 at the meeting on September 13 (Kavita emailed draft to current committee members for review).

Begin reaching out to potential speakers for the spring symposium; flesh out topics by October.
