Pending Proposals

  • Nature and Scientific American - Still waiting for archives pricing.  Cindy and Mary will meet with them at ALA.
  • Rosetta Stone - Pricing is in the selection system and 4 libraries have selected this for FY15.
  • APA PsycTHERAPY - no updates since Cindy spoke with the rep to explain that the current pricing model is too expensive for smaller institutions and a more progressive or graduated pricing model would work better for the consortia members.

FY15 Database Selection and system redesign process

The selection system is now closed and all participating libraries have made their selections.  The proposal for Phase 3 of the redesign process is pending.

Aggregated database RFI

Discussion of what was needed in terms of library support for the change to Academic Search Complete from Academic Search Premier.  Most people thought that the transition would be relatively seamless.

carli 2014 e-purchase

46 libraries selected CINAHL Complete and 75 libraries selected Alexander Street Press offerings.  Six libraries chose not to participate.

carli committee volunteers

New members have accepted their appointments to begin on July 1, 2014.  Susie volunteered to become the new Chair.  Everyone thanked Chris for his excellent service as this year’s chair.  Chris’s leadership has been instrumental in the success of the committee this year especially with regard to the extra challenges brought about by the reorganization of the committee structure and the advent of the white paper.

carli membership update

Due to membership changes beginning July 1, 2014, five CARLI institutions are upgrading from affiliate membership to governing membership and nine institutions will be terminating their membership.  As of July 1, 2014 the CARLI membership will consist of 132 governing members and 5 affiliate members.

EBL EBOOK PDA

Elizabeth provided an update on current participation and statistics to date.  A brief discussion on the rising rates for short term loans by some publishers highlighted by the letter from the Boston Library Consortium also took place. 

Future plans

The committee discussed potential plans for the next fiscal year including an interest survey, various programming ideas to follow up on the white paper topics, updating the CARLI licensing principles, and identifying ways to solicit quality new proposals for consideration by CARLI.
