Announcements

• Member Announcements: None
• CARLI Announcements:
  • Jen noted that CARLI is in the final stages of getting new I-Share applications processed.  An announcement will be made at the annual meeting on November 4.
  • The final open position at CARLI has been filled in the systems services group, and the new person will start next month.
  • Elizabeth stated that registration support for OEN Certificate in OER Librarianship is still available.  The deadline to apply is November 4, 2022.
  • CARLI purchased 2,321 titles from Wiley and Oxford from the ebook program.  Members purchased 150 titles for the consortium.  The opportunity for member libraries to participate in the program and contribute support will be available in the Selection System in the future.
  • Jenny noted that the Selection System is open now through November 11.  They are still in negotiations with MIT Press.

Discussion

• The Archives Subcommittee met last week.  Their plan is for an open office hours discussion with a focus on what archives looks like at institutions that do not have formal archives units.  Erin wrote up a blurb about it.  This will tentatively be held on November 17 at 2:00pm.
• For the Open Access Collections Subcommittee, Jen has gotten volunteers from other CARLI committees to work on this project.  They will hold maybe one Zoom meeting to make sure everyone is on same page, then do most of the work via email.
• The Weeding eBooks Subcommittee will meet next Tuesday.  Lists to review will be distributed later this week.
• There was some follow-up discussion on DEI, shelf-reading, and streaming media.  The ILA Conference has a DEI session on diversity audits tomorrow.  Elizabeth attended an IACRL session by Caitlin Stewart, Teaching & Learning Librarian at Illinois State, who is doing diversity audits of the teaching materials collection there.
• Jayna noted that Illinois Valley Community College is looking at trying to integrate collections into the community more since they are the only academic library in the area, possibly as part of the Find More Illinois program.  Jen noted that program fees are waived through June 2023 and possibly beyond.  UIC is the only I-Share library currently involved, possibly sharing their holdings but not actually requesting materials.  This program is being marketed more heavily to public libraries.
