  • The committee will review the Getty Publications Virtual Library (http://www.getty.edu/publications/virtuallibrary/index.html) for discussion at its next meeting.

Announcements

  • CARLI Update
    • Alma & Primo VE Migration Open Office Hours and library migration milestone dates were added to the CARLI calendar.
    • The Alma Workshop at Big Ten Conference Center scheduled for March 18 was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
    • All scheduled CARLI in-person meetings and trainings are canceled through April 3rd. Virtual meetings and trainings will continue.
    • CARLI will reevaluate the COVID-19 situation at the end of March for potential cancelation of future in-person meetings and trainings.
    • CARLI is working through the contract process with Oxford University Press and Wiley to provide access to consortially funded e-books for one year, beginning July 1, 2020.

    • Scott Thomson (Rush University)
      • Scott Thomson began a new job as the director for the Rush University Medical Center Library.
    • Chad Buckley (Illinois State University)
      • Compact shelving will be installed. ISU is currently monitoring the COVID-19 situation.
    • David Bell, co-chair (Eastern Illinois University)
      • David will be running the first ever Comic Con at EIU on March 28, 2020. Guests include Craig Titly, a writer and executive producer at Marvel Comics. The program will also include a day of events including trivia, an escape room, a costume contest, esports tournament, and cosplay.
    • Kelli Getz (DePaul University)
      • The print weeding project continues.
      • Interviews are scheduled in April for the Associate University Librarian (AUL) for Collection Services and Technologies.
    • Paolo Gujilde (Northwestern University)
      • Northwestern will be hiring for a government documents librarian and a music librarian in the near future.
      • Keith Eiten (Wheaton College)
      • Wheaton College has extended their search for a library director.
    • Daniel Blewett, co-chair (College of DuPage)
      • College of DuPage is looking to move classes online due to COVID-19. Library folks are trying to figure out how staff will work from home to keep the library running.

Discussion

  • Open Access Ebooks
    • The subgroup met last week and recommends the Getty Publications Virtual Library (GPVL) ebooks be added to the CARLI Open Access eBook collection. The GPVL is comprised of over 350 titles from the art museum. The committee will review and discuss the addition at its next meeting.
  • Weeding Ebooks
    • The weeding subgroup met, and members are working on different areas of the report including the literature review, introduction, and difference between print and ebook weeding.
  • Alma Analytics
    • The subgroup will be meeting in early April to finish the spreadsheet that includes areas more relevant to CARLI member such as weeding, borrowing, etc.
    • Their goal is to have a rough draft by the end of April.
  • Collection Development Help-Consultants
    • IACRL began collecting names of help-consultants at ILA but lost the list of people who signed up.
    • No further report.

  • The next meeting will take place virtually on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, 9:30 – 11:00 am. Lorene Kennard will take minutes for the next meeting.
