Decisions

  • Sally Gibson was selected to be the Vice-chair / Chair-Elect for the Committee.
  • The next in person meeting will be November 19th.

Announcements

  • Joliet Junior College- the department secretary retired and they have hired a replacement.
  • Chris Diaz at National-Louis requested a list of textbooks which will be used in the fall semester.  He has acquired ebooks with multi access users for 25% of total list (97 ebooks).  He will also be exploring open textbooks. He has done a lot of outreach to the faculty and will be doing an analysis of the use and effectiveness of this project.
  • University of Chicago had an onsite ARL Immersion experience for 37 of their librarians, spending three days on Information Literacy and Assessment.
  • Loyola University Chicago has switched to Alma and the Primo discovery system, and they are implementing Primo. They have an opening for a reference librarian with primary responsibilities in outreach to first and second year students.
  • UIC has a new enrollment record with over 29,000 students this fall.

Tasks assigned

  • Jane Hopkins will take the Minutes for the Sept. 17 meeting.
  • The group will begin to develop survey about shared print collections and questions which will help identify the groups of people who would be interested and potential subject areas.
  • The committee will study the Collection questionnaire Susan sent out and write 5 more questions we want to know more about in examining the statewide print collections.
  • The committee will ask colleagues about what would be useful for them to know about other collections.
  • The committee will look for other surveys which examine cooperative collection development or  library holdings among groups of libraries and send links to the committee.

  • The committee will decide on the final direction of the Annual Project and any plans for events at the next meeting; a proposal is due to Susan Singleton by Nov. 2.
