CONFERENCE CALL

Minutes

  • Greer Martin was confirmed to take minutes this month.
  • The June 13, 2017 meeting minutes were approved.

Meeting Schedule

  • Amy will send out a poll for standing meeting time/dates.
  • Amy will send out a poll for an in-person meeting in September in Champaign. Lunch is provided, and calling in is possible.
  • We will possibly will do another call in August.

Committee Charge

  • The committee reviewed CARLI Created Content Committee charge.

Projects/Activities from FY17

  • Shareable metadata
  • Impact of promotional activities
    • Committee members reviewed how to measure traffic from Tumblr including user interactions, activity, and referrals.
  • Promotional activities
    • The committee creates a promotional article every other week for the CARLI members digitized books on the Internet Archive.
    • The committee creates a promotional article weekly to showcase an item from the CARLI Digital Collections.

  • Documentation Review
    • Members looked at documentation on the digital collections section of CARLI website.
    • Seemed like the documents were reviewed more often in the past, ceased around 2013. Last year’s committee began to review them but they will need further review. We will need to continue this project into 2018.
    • Archived documentation from the CARLI public wiki and internal pages may also need to be reviewed, such as Intro to Web 2.0 document.
    • Podcast: Started creating podcasts four years ago and ceased last year. Episodes are on iTunes.

Ongoing Projects for FY18

Presentation at CARLI Annual Meeting

  • There is an opportunity to present on the committee's FY17 annual project on shareable metadata at CARLI annual meeting on November 17, 2017. CCC presented last year.
  • Presentations are typically 5-10 minutes.  There may not be enough time to review the four case studies.
  • The committee decided to submit a synopsis rather than give a presentation.

Other Items

  • Tumblr only includes images from committee members collections due to a lack of confirmation from legal counsel that we can use items from non-committee institutions without specific permission to do so. The University of Illinois counsel should have an answer soon.
  • DPLA metadata webinar is tomorrow at 10 am. The webinar will be recorded and will be posted to the CARLI website.
  • We will brainstorm projects for this year at the next meeting or September in-person meeting.

The next committee conference call will be determined by a poll of committee members.
