CONFERENCE CALL

Minutes

  • Greer was confirmed to take minutes this month.
  • The January 10, 2018 meeting minutes were approved.

Project status reports

Best Practices for the Promotion of Digital Collections:

  • Work has begun on the document.
  • Greer is leading the working group.
  • The document contains main content areas and notes for each, working group members have claimed sections and have begun to write.
  • Working group aims to have a final draft in April and welcomes feedback in the meantime.
    • Questions and comments can be directed to Greer, who will share with the group.

Event:

  • Tricia is leading the working group.
  • Working group is planning a panel about digital collections promotion, to be held at the end of April.
  • So far two panelists have agreed to present:
    • Lindsay Harmon from Lewis University and Sata Prescott from Northern Illinois University.
  • If anyone has an idea for a third panelist, contact Tricia and/or the working group.
    • Someone with a digital humanities background or Chicago Collections social media panelists might be possibilities.
  • CARLI will need about six weeks for promotion but can accommodate a shorter time frame.

Both projects will continue to move along, and the working groups will touch base with committee on progress.

Additional Items

  • Rightsstatements.org webinar:  The webinar took place on February 1. Hannah Stitzlein, UIUC Visiting Metadata Specialist, presented. There were 46 people who attended. Hannah received some general questions about copyright, which will be passed along for the next webinar, the Copyright Q & A on Tuesday, March 6.
  • Dig Projects 101: A Resource Guide has been turned into webpage: https://www.carli.illinois.edu/products-services/contentdm/cdm-documentation; Both Lyrasis links do not work and the resources do not appear to exist any longer on the Lyrasis website so the links were removed. Amy will add the links if anyone can find the Lyrasis documentation. Amy will send out an announcement to Digital Collections Interest Group and CONTENTdm contacts soon to let them know that Digital Projects 101 is up on the website.
