Acceptance of Meeting Minutes

Ongoing Projects Update

• Featured image-
  • Things are continuing along. Alice is posting hers this week. Anne is next.
• Digitized book of the month
  • Also continuing along. Alice added one a new one this month.
• Podcast
  • Future ideas to finish out the year:
  • Anne proposes perhaps an episode about the Video studio at UIUC. How is it hosted? How students are using it?
  • Another idea: Perhaps an end of year roundtable with multiple people about various projects? Potentially contacting some people who have added new collections to Content DM (perhaps ones who do not have representation on the Created Content Committee.)
• Content DM: Remapping the Collection Field to Relation-Is Part Of
  • Paperwork has been signed and Illinois is ready to start working with the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA).  One of the suggestions by the UIUC metadata staff is to map our required "Collection" field to the Qualified Dublin Core term "IsPartOf" rather than "Relation," to which the field is currently mapped.
  • As Collection is a field required by CARLI for all collections in the CDC, and proper mapping of the field is part of that requirement, the CARLI staff asked the Committee to approve this change.
  • Making this change makes it easier to crosswalk the metadata.
  • There are currently only 5 required metadata fields in CARLI collections
  • DPLA hasn’t harvested yet, but could at any time. UIUC is evaluating the metadata in regards to DPLA.   
  • Created Content Committee approves this change of this collections field metadata. The board still has to vote the change as well. CARLI will make the changes for the collections.
  • Elizabeth will follow-up with Amy regarding the question if the metadata for future collections will need to be changed.
• Tumblr Project
  • Alice has sent the Google Document for the Tumblr whitepaper  draft.
  • Questions for this paper at the moment-Do we need a lit review for this paper?  What are we looking to note as a challenges? Noting what we learned? How long things have taken to get going?
  • Another question Ways to share within other social media channels and within our own university channels?
  • Getting some good traction with a few images.  Our highest viewed image is a Sufragette image posted by Jen.
  • Question about following accounts on Tumblr policy?- Mostly following other institutions tends to be our current policy. There’s nothing concrete as of yet.
  • Question about the header image in the mobile application of Tumblr fuzziness/Do we need to change images?-It is decided that we will choose one of the more popular images and switch them out once in a while. Alice will swap out the image so it is no longer blurry.
