  • Web Administration: Approve and Index all items that have been uploaded

Optional:

  • Review the Release Notes for CONTENTdm version 6 posted below.

From 5pm on Tuesday, June 23 through Sunday, June 28:

  • No new digital items can be added to existing collections.
  • No changes can be made to existing digital items.
  • No new collections can be created in CARLI Digital Collections.
  • Currently unpublished existing collections cannot change from unpublished to published, but unpublished collections will not be lost.  They will be available for publishing after the upgrade.
  • No changes can be made to collection home pages.
  • A read-only copy of CARLI Digital Collections will be available for searching and viewing items at http://collections.carli.illinois.edu.  It will contain all items and metadata as of 5pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2015.

Required after CARLI staff have announced that the upgrade is complete:

  1. URL for accessing CONTENTdm Web Administration changes to: http://collections.carli.illinois.edu:8080/cgi-bin/admin/start.exe. Update any Internet browser bookmarks to the new URL.  (This change will need to be made before work can resume in CONTENTdm Web Administration, but need not necessarily occur immediately if staff are not actively working in it until a later date.)
  2. Project Client server URL must be changed in each Project that you will continue to use.  Document of step-by-step instructions.  (This change will need to be made before work can resume in the Project Client, but need not necessarily occur immediately if staff are not actively working with the Project Client until a later date.)  New projects created in the future must also use the new server URL; see CONTENTdm Project Client Starting a New Project.

Strongly Recommended:

  • CONTENTdm URLs for collection home pages, browse pages, and items will change in the new version, but there are automatic address redirects in place within the software to accommodate this.  Libraries will be able to update any links into CONTENTdm that appear on their local webpages over time.  For more information about URLs in CONTENTdm 6, see the CONTENTdm Online Help About URLs page.
    • Note: The CONTENTdm Reference URL for each item does not change.
    • The new home page URLs will change to: http://collections.carli.illinois.edu/cdm/landingpage/collection/xxx_yyyyy where "xxx_yyyyy" is the collection alias (for example, sie_civilw or aug_singers).
    • The new browse page URLs will change to: http://collections.carli.illinois.edu/cdm/search/collection/xxx_yyyyy where "xxx_yyyyy" is the collection alias (for example, knx_mural or ben_jurica)

Optional:
