I-Share Voyager software upgrade Jan. 8-9, 2008

CARLI staff are planning to upgrade I-Share, CARLI's Voyager system, from version 6.1 to version 6.5.3 overnight on Tuesday, January 8, 2008. The system will be down for the upgrade beginning at 5pm on January 8, 2008 until approximately 8am on January 9, 2008.

This upgrade to 6.5.3 will require that all indexes in all databases be regenerated in order to assure full functionality of some of the new features and bug fixes, but the upgrade and reindexing do not need to be completed simultaneously. Therefore, the reindexing process will be completed overnight during subsequent evenings beginning January 9.
More specific information will follow covering what to expect before and during the reindexing process as well as a daily schedule of databases to be completed.

Library staff should begin reviewing the software release notes and other information for versions 6.2, 6.5.1, 6.5.2, and 6.5.3 to discover updates and changes in software functionality that may affect their workflows. This information can be found on the ExLibris SupportWeb at

New Voyager staff clients will be required with the upgrade to version 6.5.3. More information on downloading and installing new clients will be available soon. If your library is using CARLI's Voyager Client Update Checker, the installation of new clients will be automated for you on January 9. If you are not currently using the Update Checker, it is not too late to do so. See

The alternate training databases will be upgraded to 6.5.3 soon and made available to all I-Share libraries to assist with local testing and planning. Watch this email list for information on how to access these training databases.
