Interest Survey for FY 2009 Database Brokering Program Now Open
CARLI needs your participation in the annual member interest survey. Open now through December 14, the survey will gather information regarding the level of interest in various electronic resources for the FY 2009 (July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2009) database brokering cycle. Your feedback will ensure that the CARLI e-resources program includes the resources that will be of the greatest benefit to your library.
Survey results will provide essential information to CARLI and the vendors to begin negotiations and provide database pricing earlier in the year. This will allow CARLI to initiate the selection cycle as early as possible next spring to accommodate the demands of your institutional budgeting. Database pricing will be made available next spring through a secure, password-protected web-based selection system.
Several important points about the survey:
-
Your responses to this survey, along with past subscriptions, will be used to create the FY 2009 core list of databases for universal pricing. As in the past, vendors will be asked to provide pricing for the core list for all CARLI members. We will inform the membership of the final core list well in advance of the subscription period.
-
For all databases that are not included in the FY 2009 core list, vendor pricing will be requested only for those libraries indicating an interest on the FY 2009 survey.
-
If no survey is submitted for your library, then you will receive only pricing for the core list of titles.
Again this year, you are encouraged to also list any additional databases in which you are interested and for which you would like CARLI to investigate consortial pricing. All suggestions will be reviewed by the CARLI E-Resources Working Group for consideration and inclusion in the brokering program.
The survey this year also includes an additional section related to e-books. Your feedback regarding these products will be very important as we begin to make plans for both brokered and purchased electronic resources.
Survey instructions have been sent to all e-resources contacts via the CARLI CCG listserv. If you didn’t receive your instructions, or if you have any questions, please email support@carli.uillinois.edu.
