CARLI Announces the Opening of the FY 2008 Database Spring Subscription Period

The selection period will run from March 26, 2007 to April 30, 2007. The password protected CARLI selection database is available at http://dbselect.ilcso.uiuc.edu/cocoon/idal/login.
Complete instructions for using the selection database are available at that site. Previously distributed institutional Login ID’s and passwords remain valid. If you did not obtain an ID/password, or have misplaced it, please submit a request to support@carli.illinois.edu (with the subject line: 2007 database brokering).
Important Information About the FY 2008 CARLI Brokering Program:
- 1. Database pricing from the following vendors is available now:
- ABC-CLIO
- Chronicle of Higher Education (NEW)
- Columbia University Press
- Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA) (partial)
- EBSCO Publishing
- Gale (NEW)
- Lexis Nexis
- Newsbank (NEW)
- OCLC
- SOLINET (Lexis Nexis Academic)
- STAT-USA (U.S. Dept. of Commerce)
- Wilson
- We are still awaiting some pricing from the following vendors:
Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA)
- We will notify you when the CSA pricing and any other databases have been added to the selection system.
- If you have requested pricing for products from any of the vendors listed above and it is not in the selection system, please submit a request to support@carli.illinois.edu (with the subject line: 2007 database brokering).
- As a result of the recently concluded RFP process, pricing for competitively available databases will no longer be offered through CARLI for the following vendors:
Ovid
ProQuest
If you have any questions about this change or any current subscriptions that you have with these vendors through CARLI, please contact Tom Dorst so he can follow-up.
- CARLI has stressed to all participating vendors that the pricing they offer through the database brokering program should represent the lowest price available to that institution. If your institution obtains a lower quotation from any of the participating vendors, please contact Tom Dorst, so he can follow-up.
- THE SELECTION DATABASE WILL BE DYNAMICALLY UPDATED THROUGHOUT THE SELECTION PERIOD, PLEASE MONITOR BROKERING PROGRAM MESSAGES SENT THROUGH THE CCG LISTSERV DURING THE SELECTION CYCLE.
- The comments provided by vendors in the CARLI Selection Database provide important information to help you interpret the price listed. PLEASE READ THE VENDOR COMMENTS CAREFULLY BEFORE MAKING YOUR FINAL DATABASE SELECTIONS.
- PLEASE NOTE: If your institution is a BASIC member of CARLI, you may participate in the Brokering Program, however, you will be assessed a $50 handling fee for each database you select. The online selection system has been programmed to recognize these institutions, and will automatically add the fee. If you wish to verify you membership status, please go to http://www.carli.illinois.edu/mem-libs/Membership-list.pdf .
- PLEASE NOTE: If your institution has not submitted a membership application to CARLI, you may not participate in the Brokering Program. You will not be able to login to the online selection system, even if you have a previously provided CARLI ID and password. If you have any questions about your CARLI membership, please contact Tom Dorst.
FY 2007 Database Selection Timeline:
March 26-April 30, 2007 - Selections made online through the CARLI Selection Database
May 4, 2007 - Final subscription lists are submitted to vendors
May 16-31, 2007 - Preliminary billing estimates sent to subscribing libraries for review
July 1, 2007 - Service begins for FY 2008
After July 1, 2007 – Final bills sent to subscribing libraries
