The election and appointment process for new members of the CARLI Board of Directors has been completed. New Board members elected to 3-year terms beginning July 1, 2013 are Brian Beecher (Elgin Community College), Mary Case (University of Illinois at Chicago), and Scott Walter (DePaul University). Board members elected to one-year terms are Njambi Kamoche (William Rainey Harper College), and Patrick Dawson (Northern Illinois University).

Registration is now open for the CARLI Resource Sharing Team's spring forum. The forum will be held June 6, 2013 at Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, IL.
Included on the agenda are a presentation on reports and statistics for resource sharing, a panel discussion on how institutions are currently using ILL statistics, and an "unconference-style" discussion on Textbooks and Interlibrary Loan.

Alexander Street Press, an electronic publisher of award-winning online collections and video for scholarly research, teaching, and learning, has forged a landmark agreement with the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) to provide perpetual access to academic online video collections for 124 of the group's participating governing member institutions.

The password-protected CARLI selection database is now available. The selection period will remain open until May 31, 2013. E-Resources Contacts and subscribers to the Collections and Content Group (CCG) email list should have already received a detailed announcement, along with instructions and a complete list of the products available and the vendors providing access.
Timeline:
- April 22–May 31: Selections made online through the CARLI Selection Database
- June 1–15: Final subscription lists submitted to vendors
- June 1–15: Preliminary billing estimates sent to subscribing libraries for review
- July 1: Service begins for FY 2014
- After August 1: Final invoices sent to subscribing libraries

At 10:10AM this morning, the server running the SOLR index containing the VuFind Local catalogs stopped responding. A java process was consuming all CPU and the server was restarted to restore service. It looks like the service was offline for 12 minutes.
This has happened before and we think it has something to do with Java Garbage Collection (which happens at random intervals). The solution may be to schedule restarts of this server on a regular basis in the middle of the night.
