Collections Enhancement Awards Program

The Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) is pleased to announce the Collections Enhancement Awards Program (formerly the CARLI Collections Grants Program) for fiscal year 2008.

Recognizing the value of this program to member institutions, the Program will continue to be funded at $250,000, the level established for the fiscal year 2007 Program.
 
The CARLI Collections Enhancement Awards Program encourages sharing of collections resources for the institutions of higher education in the state.  Award proposals may take various forms.  Collaborative digitization projects are specifically encouraged.  Other types of proposals include collection partnerships, research projects related to collection management or assessment, or cooperative website development.  Proposals of the FY2007 successful projects are available on the CARLI website at http://www.carli.illinois.edu/mem-serv/coll-man/collman-awards/collsfund07.html.

Several changes have been implemented for the FY2008 Program.  These changes include an introduction of a theme, a required "Intent to Apply" form available from November 6 through December 1, 2006, a proposal writing workshop in December 2006, an affirmation from each participating library director as well as a requirement on a long term assessment / evaluation of the project. The theme for the FY 2008 Collections Enhancement Awards Program is "Access and Collections that Keep Pace with Curriculum and Technology."

All CARLI member institutions (Governing, Associate, and Basic) are invited to collaborate and apply for an Award.
