Special Pricing Notes
- American Chemical Society Products–The selection system will reflect renewal commitments.
- ARTstor–Pricing is shown for both current participants and possible new participants. ARTstor will offer a 9% discount if CARLI has 6 or more new libraries come into the CARLI agreement. Based on the previous survey of interest in a CARLI agreement for ARTstor we should have more than enough participants, so the pricing shown in the selection system includes this 9% discount. Should numbers fall below this level participants will be contacted with revised pricing prior to the issuance of invoices.
- JSTOR–Because of the number of collections offered by JSTOR and their requirement that each collection have at least 10 participants, the pricing shown in the selection system do not include the 9% discount. Please utilize the counter feature of the selection system to monitor the number of participants in each collection. Discounts will be reflected on the invoice estimates.
- Current participants in both ARTstor and JSTOR will see only Annual Access Fee costs in the selection system. Information about your status as a participant has come to us from ARTstor or JSTOR and if this information is not accurate please let us know. Selecting JSTOR collections or ARTstor in the selection system will mean that costs for these products will be included in your fall CARLI invoice.
- Nature–Nature Publishing is requiring that we receive all subscriptions commitments before the license agreement can be finalized so to gather this information the pricing for the current year’s access to Nature is included in the selection system. Should further issues arise with the agreement we will notify all libraries selecting this product. The discounts for this product are volume based and the pricing included in the system reflects the maximum amount your library would be asked to pay. All applicable discounts will be applied at the time invoice estimates are issued.
- OCLC WorldCat Collection Analysis product–The discount shown in the selection system for renewing participants is 15%. OCLC pricing allows for higher levels of discount for higher levels of participation. Libraries that previously subscribed on their own are welcome to join the CARLI agreement and should contact us to discuss how this would work. CARLI staff will contact participants after the selection period ends if we reach a higher discount level.
Please note that you may not see a price entered for some of the vendors indicated above because the vendor provides a custom price for each subscriber. If you wish to receive a price for any database listed above, please support@carli.illinois.edu.
CARLI has stressed to all participating vendors that the pricing they offer through the database brokering program should represent the lowest price available to that institution. If your institution obtains a lower quotation from any of the participating vendors, we would appreciate being made aware, so we may follow-up.
Database selections become final on November 30, 2009. Each database selected through the CARLI Database Brokering Program constitutes a financial commitment by the selecting library to pay all costs associated with the database for CY 2010 (January 1, 2010 – December 31, 2010). It is strongly encouraged that final database selections be reviewed and authorized by the appropriate individuals in the selecting library.
