Discussion

PRODUCT PROPOSALS

There were no product proposals this month.

Other topics

  • The committee made introductions
  • Jenny gave an overview of the charge of the Commercial Products Committee and discussed its importance in advising CARLI staff when considering vendors to include in the e-resource brokering program
  • E-Resources survey – CARLI occasionally sends a survey to the e-resource liaisons to ask which vendors/products members would like CARLI to work with. The last survey was done before the pandemic, and Jenny would like to send out a new one this fall. The committee consensus was that October would be a good time to send the survey.
  • The committee began discussing ideas for an annual project. Marie brought up the topic of managing Open Access resources. There was general agreement that there were various topics related to Open Access that could be worked on, including issues of management, getting buy-in from faculty on issues surrounding OER, and pursuing read/publish agreements with publishers. The committee will continue the discussion at the September meeting.
