Schedule Information: Maintains a flexible 37.5 hours work per week schedule. May work one evening each week and one weekend day each month.

Working Conditions: Work is primarily indoors in nature. Requires moving around the library approximately 80% of the time. Occasional lifting up to 20lbs.

Duties of Position:

  • Responsible for providing public service within the Circulation Department. Responsible for assisting patrons and employees with library technologies.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the Library.
  • Facilitates Semester Loan Technology Program including generating reports, maintaining technology and inventory, and acts as a point person for students, vendors, and departments.
  • Uses library automated system to create reports and curate data to support library functions.
  • Maintains technology manuals and creates tutorials.
  • Provides support for library specific software.
  • Registers students, staff, and community borrowers and updates borrowing status of patrons.
  • Provides virtual library support through live chat and ticket queues.
  • Responsible for circulating all library materials and collecting fines..
  • Receives, processes and helps maintain all reserve materials.
  • Assists in organizing materials for digital access. Troubleshoots e-resource problems for all students and faculty.
  • Keeps abreast of campus initiatives concerning ADA compliancy and digital accessibility.
  • Assists in contributing to the library’s social media presence.
  • Responsible for accumulating and recording statistics regarding library use.
  • Provides information to patrons in person, online, and by telephone, and makes necessary referrals; assists patrons as needed.
  • Assists Circulation Supervisor in hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, and project assignment of library student employees.
  • Maintains stacks and general physical space of the library.
  • Inspects damaged materials and refers them to appropriate department for repair or replacement.
  • Troubleshoots all library technologies and general maintenance of copiers, printers, DVD players, scanners and microform reader/printers.
  • Provides technology assistance with Microsoft Suite products, BlackBoard and general computer questions.
  • Assists with library marketing initiatives, including helping to create displays.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Education Requirements: LTA Certificate or Associate degree required.

Experience Requirements: Two years providing library service and direct experience with an integrated library system. Must be proficient with document creation using advanced features of Adobe Acrobat and also proficient with current Microsoft 365products including Teams and Excel.
