Information Literacy and Electronic Resources Librarian - Quincy University

Quincy University, a Catholic, Franciscan university in the liberal arts tradition, is seeking a full-time, 12-month Information Literacy and Electronic Resources Librarian.  This is a non-tenure track faculty position reporting to the Dean of the Library.   The Information Literacy and Electronic Resources Librarian collaborates with faculty to design, promote, teach and assess information literacy across all programs at Quincy University, and assists in maintaining the Cloud-based, library services platform and other electronic resources.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Support the faculty in implementing information literacy within courses 
  • Provide information literacy instruction through formal lectures or individual tutoring
  • Assess information literacy initiatives 
  • Provide research assistance to any patron utilizing print, media and electronic resources
  • Collaborate with the Education Technology Specialist to create and maintain online research guides, video tutorials and class handouts to support information literacy instruction
  • Serve as a system administrator for the Cloud-based library services platform (ALMA), discovery platform (Primo) and remote access management service (Open Athens)

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in library development including material selection of print, media and electronic resources
  • Participate in planning for library renovation and growth 
  • Participate in the assessment of library resources and services 
  • Serve on University committees or CARLI consortia committees as needed
  • Assist with other library services as needed such as providing interlibrary loan or circulation/reserve services 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program 
  • Excellent communication and good customer service skills 
  • Ability to work with college students, faculty and general public
  • Some knowledge of academic research procedure and resources helpful 
  • Experience with information literacy initiatives helpful

 
About the Brenner Library:  Brenner Library is the access point for an extensive collection of resources supporting the curricular needs of the Quincy University community. The library provides an environment for group or individual research and study in a space that incorporates the latest technology and extensive print, media and electronic collections. Access to over 30 research databases is available from within the library and remotely. The library provides numerous computer workstations, wireless connectivity, and computing assistance. Included in the library’s 130,000 volume print collection are a current circulating collection, a 4,000 volume rare book collection dating from the 15th century, an Instructional Materials Center of print and non-print materials to support the teacher education programs, and an extensive recorded music and film collection. Librarians provide research assistance and instruction upon request. The library is a member of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois and the OCLC Network.
