Decisions:

• Minutes of the June 10, 2011 meeting were approved prior to the meeting.
• The Board approved the recommendation to sunset the Products and Services Vetting Committee.
• The Board approved the recommendation to appoint a task force to evaluate the criteria for membership in CARLI.
• The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 PM.

Announcements:

• The Board welcomed new members Christine Frank, Rush University; Paula Kaufman, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign; Dennis Krieb, Lewis & Clark Community College; and continuing members Connie Bakker, College of Lake County; Allen Lanham, Eastern Illinois University; and Richard Sayre, Monmouth College.
• The Board congratulated Paula Kaufman for being named the 2011 Illinois Academic Librarian of the Year. The award will be presented during the Illinois Library Association Awards Luncheon on October 18.
• IACRL will sponsor a one-day conference on March 16, 2012.
• New directors have been appointed at 16 CARLI member libraries since January 2011.
• The University of Illinois has selected Dr. Christophe Pierre to serve as the new Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Pierre replaces the outgoing VPAA Dr. Mrinalini Rao.
• The Number of Copies in I-Share recommendation was announced to I-Share Directors and I-Share Liaisons in August. A "frequently asked questions" page has been developed for the CARLI web site, which provides additional information about the recommendation.
• CARLI is seeking an Electronic Resources Coordinator to fill the position vacated by David Hamilton in August.
• The number of subscriptions selected through the CARLI e-resources brokering program has grown nearly 200% since 2005.
• The CARLI Annual Meeting Webinar will be held on Wednesday, November 9. R. David Lankes will be the keynote speaker.
• The Executive Director will hold two meetings with Governing Directors this fall. The first meeting will be held on November 3, at the Illini Center in Chicago. The second meeting will be held at the Illinois State Library on November 18.
• CARLI will be moving the production servers from the UIC campus to the UIUC campus, with the move to be completed by June 30, 2012.
• The Illinois State Library is sponsoring the "On the Front Lines" Conference to be held March 12-15, 2012.
• Leslie Bednar has been selected as the Executive Director of the Illinois Heartland Library System.

Tasks assigned:

• The Board directed CARLI to develop instructions regarding the process for submitting new product and service ideas to CARLI for consideration by the Executive Committee following the sunsetting of the Products and Services Vetting Committee.
• The Board directed CARLI to solicit new product and service ideas from the membership in the upcoming newsletter and director's update.
• The board directed CARLI to investigate the technical and legal questions surrounding the use of I-Share union catalog records for commercial discovery systems. CARLI will update the Board at their December meeting.
