This polychrome mask was produced in the early 20th century by the Yaka people in the southwestern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The digital Ethnographic Arts Collection contains four views of the mask, allowing the object to be examined from multiple angles.

The Ethnographic Collection, which is owned by the University Foundation of Governors State University, consists of donations to be used as teaching objects in art history and ethnic studies courses. Other items in the digital collection include ceremonial and everyday objects such as masks, figure and animal sculptures, pipes, staffs, spoons, musical instruments, costume and jewelry predominantly from Central African ethnic groups including Chokwe, Hemba, Lega, Pende, Songye, and others.
