CARLI Digital Collections Featured Image: Spiral 5

From the GSU Sculpture Photographs Collection (Governors State University) in CARLI Digital Collections.

This digital collection provides photographic documentation of several of the 26 works located in the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park on the campus of Governors State University in University Park, Illinois. The above photograph by Dick Burd is one of six views of Spiral by the Australian-American sculptor Clement Meadmore (1929-2005). Created in 1971, Spiral is typical of Meadmore’s work in both medium and form—a large-scale outdoor sculpture made of welded Cor-Ten steel, consisting of an elongated rectangular shape that twists and turns in an upward fashion.
