What is the proposed product or service?

New York Review of Books institutional online subscriptions

What does it do?

New York Review of Books unlimited access to 1963 - present. For more info see http://www.nybooks.com/libraries/pricing Also we can request a trial via http://www.nybooks.com/libraries/ I examined their license agreement and it seems very standard for library type databases allowing reasonable use, walk in use, remote access, coursepacks, ILL, etc. Perhaps we could consider getting a free trial around March or April in 2010 or so to judge CARLI library interest?

What problem does it solve?

Access to full content of New York Review of books, a widely held print or microform periodical but bulky to keep long term in paper because of frequency of publication.

Is it the only product or service that does this?

Not exactly but NY Review of Books not widely available full text online. For ex. not in EBSCO Host databases & not in Lexis Nexis Academic.

Will this require integration with an existing CARLI product or service?

Yes but already has object portfolios in SFX.

What is the advantage of doing this consortially?

Possibly save money for members.
