What does it do?

The following is from "American Libraries", which explains ... "The AquaBrowser Library presents holdings in a totally new way. Instead of requiring exact search terms, the system finds items using associations, stemming, spelling alternatives, synonyms, and translations. This helps patrons who aren’t sure how best to approach a search. The “refine” tool allows patrons to filter queries by format, subject, or genre. Endeca—Exhibiting one of the most remarkable refinement tools, Endeca (endeca.com) creates a “metarelational index” where result sets are refined on-the-fly to match patron limits of name, subject, format, or locally defined fields: Picture commercial sites that let you limit results by price, model, or delivery time.

What problem does it solve?

Current OPAC doesn't have the features.

Will this require integration with an existing CARLI product or service?

Yes, front-end of Voyager

What is the advantage of doing this consortially?

It is one of those products which fit in consortia. A common interface will enhance resource sharing among the memeber libraries.

CARLI Actions on this Product

July 2008 - CARLI released a VuFind open-souurce interface to all I-Share libraries in late July 2008. Five I-Share libraries will participate in a WorldCat Local pilot in October, 2008.
