Banner integration

What does it do?

I hope we will continue to look at the possibility of pursuing some more integration between Endeavor and Banner. Actually even more important than that would be integration with campus authentication systems. Endeavor is LDAP compliant so I wouldn’t think that real-time, event integration between campus systems and Endeavor really would be all that difficult. It would allow the patron databases to be totally up to date and also support single sign-on access to the catalog and my account features in Voyager. We really are trying to get to the point where the campus netID/login/pw works with all of our major systems. Right now it looks like Voyager will be the one that we can’t integrate. I’m sure this is more complicated than I’m making this sound due to our shared system, but it does seem like something worthy of exploration. Most of the state universities at least are or soon will be on Banner, so there would be benefit to a sizable chunk of the membership.

This would be custom work, not a product.

What is the advantage of doing this consortially?

Assistance to patrons at those universities using Banner as their enterprise software.

CARLI Actions on this Product

After discussion, the PSVC recommends that the CARLI staff work with Northeastern Illinois University as a pilot to determine the capabilities of Endeavor regrading authentication. This work is expected to begin in late January 2007. NEIU has been to busy with other library initiative. we willr evisit this when they are ready to pilot.
