What does it do?

The Chronicle of Higher Education is a primary source of news about academe. Subscriptions are ubiquitous on virtually all campuses. The product is updated daily. Each week?s issue is posted on Monday, with the print version mailed the previous Friday. Backfile is available to 1989. The contents of the Chronicle Review and the annual Almanac are included in the online subscription. The text is keyword searchable.

What problem does it solve?

The Chronicle is a high demand resource for which many members do not have available funds. The vendor has just begun working with consortia and is offering attractive pricing.

Yes

Will this require integration with an existing CARLI product or service?

No.

What is the advantage of doing this consortially?

A consortium wide access price is offered.

CARLI Actions on this Product

The PSVC recommended a partially subsidized purchase of this product to the Board in September 2006. The board asked the staff to refine the subsidization model. This recommendation will go back to the Board on November 17, 2006 for approval. Measure was approved and the Chronicle is now a heavily subsidized resource for CARLI Governing members.
